Losing a loved one is difficult for everyone – but the impact of such a great loss is often devastating for children.
Bereavement and grief support is an important part of hospice care.
The Healing Hearts program is a free service offered by United Hospice to families and children, ages 4-18 years, who have lost a loved one. Through this specially designed bereavement and grief support service, children and their parents or guardians receive the support they need to walk through this challenging journey together. Together, they receive practice guidance to address their particular needs.
Healing Hearts Program participants meet twice a month during the school year. The program brings together children and their parents or guardians for family activities. This is followed by appropriate support group sessions. Each Spring, the program holds a Memorial Rock Garden Dedication.
